Rising Stage Review

Editorial policy

Rising Stage Review aims to make theatre-making easier to understand without pretending that one approach suits every production. We explain our reasoning, distinguish opinion from fact and make room for corrections.

Accuracy and clarity

We check factual statements against appropriate sources before publication and take care with dates, terminology and accounts of theatre history. Where a point is uncertain or interpretations differ, we say so rather than presenting a guess as settled fact. Advice is explained in context, with its limits made clear.

Independence and interests

Editorial decisions are made for the usefulness and relevance of the material to readers. A commercial relationship does not buy favourable coverage or determine an editorial conclusion. We make relevant interests clear when they could affect how a reader understands a piece.

Corrections

If you spot a factual error or an unclear passage, contact us with the article title and the point in question. We review correction requests and update material when warranted; significant changes are identified in the article so readers can understand what changed.

Partner material and illustrations

Paid or partner-supported material is labelled clearly, and partner placements are distinguished from editorial recommendations. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; where this applies, the illustration is labelled so readers can tell it is not a documentary image.
